Themes: Loneliness & Rejection

Experiencing rejection or exclusion in childhood for being different can be a lonely experience. To deter this, a child may like to perform to show how interesting and fun they can be. The relationship between the two characters in Circus Girl explores themes of loneliness, and rejection of what is deemed as “different” in society.
